Our philosophy – what we do
What We Do
First Steps’ mission is “inspiring and enabling young children to reach their true potential through education and play”.
We follow concepts of Freidrich Froebel the German educator, who created the concept of kindergarten and from whom the school and nursery take their name. His theories were all gained from viewing life through a child’s eye and the idea of “creative play”.
We have a distinct educational philosophy, which sets us apart from any other nursery. The children are happy and fulfilled whilst also developing process based learning.
Our activities are designed to create opportunities and invitations to learn, both in individual and group situations. It is our intention to ensure that children leaving First Steps have been nurtured to give them a confident head start at school, whether they choose to transition to The Froebelian School at 3 years or continue their educational journey at the age of 5.
